If you weave a piece of guitar string at right angles through the strings (next to the saddle), you get this metallic sound reminiscent of Caribbean steel pan drums, and that's how I've achieved the guitar sound on this track. It was inspired by a childhood memory of my father bringing home a record by the Trinidad Steel Drum Band.

I've loved the music of Bread since I started playing guitar in the 1970s, and of course the lyric of this song resonates with me. I've always wanted to perform it, but it took a bit of experimenting to find a way of presenting it in a personal way.

La Passeggiata means 'a little walk' and refers to the Italian custom of an evening pre-dinner stroll, usually between 5 and 7 pm. In true Italian fashion, this ritual becomes a fashionable daily social event, a chance to 'people watch', and to be seen wearing your finest clothes.
