I'm 15 again, re-learning Classical Gas. (Video Request)

John, a member of the 'Sunshine Coast Guitar Orchestra' asked me if I would video a performance of the Mason Williams 1968 instrumental hit Classical Gas.

That sounded like a great idea - I've been playing that tune since I was 15 - but it got me thinking; there are so many versions of this tune around, with many variations...so, I thought, lets go back to the source...and for the past few days, I've been 15 again, learning Classical Gas all over again - and loving it!

video request: 'Going Home' (Theme from 'Local hero')

Another 'mailing list video request' - 'Local Hero' is the debut soundtrack album by Mark Knopfler, released in 1983. 'Going Home' is probably the most well-known track from the movie, and I remember Dire Straits closing their concert with it when I saw them in Sydney in 1986.

In the 80s, I used to perform this track with my band Hat Trick.  Thanks John Smith for this request!

mailing list request: 'what a wonderful world'

Hello everyone,

Wow, so many requests coming in - thank you! I'm noting them all, and it looks like I'll be kept busy for a while!

This week's request is for Manfred, from Böblingen in Germany: What a Wonderful World - the Louie Armstrong classic from 1967. I'll always associate this song with the movie Good Morning Vietnam, (starring Robin Williams)...

Video request - Ashokan Farewell

A 'mailing list request' for Sam, from Temora... This haunting tune was used as the title theme of the 1990 documentary mini-series 'The Civil War'.

New album previews

Greetings, friends!

I'm having a break from touring (until July), which has given me time to focus on my e-news, and, write and record new tunes for my next CD.

I'd love to share a couple of tracks with you, recently filmed at home.

Feel free to leave your comments. I'm inviting you to send me requests, and I'll make a short video for you...old or new, original or cover, it doesn't matter!

Here's an example: Ryan from Broken Hill asked for 'We Can Work It Out' by The Beatles...

April 2019 enews

Greetings to you all, and I hope your year is progressing well. Welcome, new subscribers (& thankyou!)

I'm having a break from performing, using the time (wisely, I hope!) to write new music, producing in my studio (fantastic singer/songwriter music scene here in Brisbane), giving some guitar lessons (via Skype), and filming new video content for my YouTube channel.

I've been adding a new video each week, some performances, but also some discussion pieces, lessons, and 'show & tell'.

If you haven't already done so, please subscribe to my YouTube channel, and you should receive a notification whenever there's something new from me.

I'm interested to know what you'd like to see from me - send me your requests!

new video content added

In the past 8 weeks I've been adding new video content to my YouTube channel...some 'Show & Tell', some discussion pieces, some performance pieces...

Check it out, & while you're there, don't forget to hit the subscribe button - it would mean a lot to me!

Here's an overview of what's gone up in recent weeks...
